母亲的礼物

在作者的一次演讲中他说：我曾经以为能送给别人最好的礼物是书，后来我发现能给别人最好的礼物是一起讨论一本书。这只是个理想状况，每个人的成长阶段、阅读趣味不同，不一定会喜欢读同一本书，也不一定愿意花时间为了别人去勉为其难读完一本书。要不是母亲生癌症这件事，作者可能还在带着一本永远读不完的书满世界的跑。应验了经济学诺贝尔奖获得者Richard Thaler所说：more choices are not always better。
勇敢从来都不是天生的，尤其是面对末期癌症和死之将至。对患者和家人都是炼狱，尤其是心理的痛苦远远超过病痛和放化疗本身的创伤。很开心看到作者和母亲通过共同阅读的方式探讨了人生最后一站的种种，让死者安心让生者能更勇敢的活下去。这是母亲临终送给威尔和家人最好的礼物。
这是爱书人之间最好的告别。如果不是这样，以文学、音乐或影像的方式把亲人间的爱赋予新的生命也好-就像龙应台的《天长地久呀，美君》和陆庆屹的《四个春天》那样。还有焦波的《俺爹俺娘》系列摄影作品，一下子戳中人的心窝。我们是孩子同时也为人父母，也许我们也可以为老去的父母和年幼的孩子做些什么，关于怎样爱怎样活还有很广阔的空间可探索和尝试。
过去的六年我们一起经历的风雨，让我能深切体会威尔跟妈妈说的话：我爱你们，我为你们感到骄傲。虽然我不信上帝，但是我愿意为你们祈祷。如赴萨马拉之约，我愿随你同行。
